Code P0544 denotes a detected general malfunction within the EGR temperature sensor circuit on bank 1, sensor #1. This P0544 DTC refers to Bank #1 (which is the side of the engine that contains cylinder #1). Related codes are P0545 (circuit low) and P0546 (circuit high). An EGT sensor is found on most late model gas or diesel engines.
I've seen several recent posts on this, and there doesnt seem to be an official DIY on here. So here goes: This is the easiest and less messy way to do a complete coolant system flush (with heater core). Drain coolant 1. Jack front end of car up enough to fit a bucket under the car, on the left side of the radiator.
This time we are breaking down the engine coolant temperature sensor, or ECT. You may also see this part referred to as a C.T.S. (coolant temperature sensor). I have put so many ECTs on VWs that it’s crazy. I really enjoyed doing this video. If you have a part you would like me do to a video on, shoot me an email to Charles (at)humblemechanic
My wife got a CEL Monday morning, and I diagnosed it with my vcds scanner. She took it to the dealer today and they said it is leaking coolant, needs new thermostat, and isn't covered by warranty. The cost to fix was $1,301.12. After I talked to the mechanic over the phone I told him about my car (2015 Passat TDI) issues I had with coolant
Since the cats cross over, the Bank1 cat is on the Bank2 side of the car, and vice versa. That is NOT correct, they do indeed crossover, but the O2 sensors are near the heads, bank 2 is driver side, bank one is passenger side. Oxygen sensors on the driver side or bank to, oxygen sensors on the passenger side are bank 1.
Open end wrench or socket to fit the sensor. Pocket screwdriver. Step 1: Be sure the engine is cool. Locate the main pressure cap for the cooling system and open it enough to relieve any pressure in the cooling system, then reinstall the cap so it seals properly. Step 2. Locate the coolant temperature sensor.

5a. (1.8L only) There is a sensor located in the same location that is clipped in, remove this sensor to drain the coolant. 6. Once coolant is finished draining into your bucket, close the drain cock same way as you opened it (push up, twist, push up more, twist). 7. Fill coolant reservoir with hot tap water. 8. Put resevior cap back on. 9.
The CTS is new, genuine from Audi and also the symptom only happens with A/C is OFF while driving. However, if car is parked after highway driving than it obviously doesn't matter since A/C will be off hence the suspicion of the aux pump. Although I don't really know if the aux coolant pump is an after-run pump like the turbos or not.
